Redwood & Burl Carving Wood
Redwood blocks for carving is usually harvested from old growth Redwoods. It is usually cut from the tops of old stumps which were logged 50 to 150 years ago. These will vary in size from 50 to 50,000 pounds. The chunks of wood have few cracks or rot. This carving wood is sold by the piece or by the truckload. A truck load of carving wood will usually run between 46,000 and 50,000 pounds.
